Grants averaging between $250 and $2,500 to USA artists, and nonprofit organizations for art-related projects that educate the public on important contemporary issues. Eligible states include Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Virginia.

PFW will partner and help build community partnerships with other concerned groups and individuals to insure that the arts as a communication tool continue to grow and enlighten and enrich lives.  The Foundation prefers to work with NFPs whose Missions are educational, cultural and/or social justice-oriented which have projects meeting the Mission’s objectives of the Foundation and that utilize Fine Arts, Dance, Music, Theater, Creative Writing, Poetry, Photography, or those that create Educational Reels (only) with teaching guides of documentaries or have Public Interest Platforms/Forums such as Independent Journalists or those NFPs which engage in community non-partisan discussions. 

Foundation support is granted to artful, creative and innovative initiatives that advance civic and social justice programs that will improve lives, the lives of creatures big and small, and instill optimism so a better world can be achieved together, working to save those things held precious from extinction.

Puffin Foundation West, Ltd. (PFW) wishes to hear from USA activist, artists, and Not For Profit organizations that use ART to support their Missions and reflects the work PFW has accomplished over the last decade.

PFW decided that beginning 2020 PFW will only accept applications from states contiguous to OHIO AND NORTH CAROLINA, being Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia.

The Foundation cannot grant to corporations, LLCs, INCs or any other type of for-profit group.

Pre-Application Information:

Important Dates:
- September 9, 2019: Applications accepted.
- November 11, 2019: Early determination
- December 9, 2019: Grants application due date
- January 15, 2020 – May 15, 2020: Grant awards sent out

Early determination applications will be reviewed first and would be related to projects that complement
the Foundation's Mission that take place in January or February 2020. Grant Award Checks for Early Determinations will be sent out first and by January 15, 2020. The Applications are logged in by their postmark and are reviewed by the grants committee in that order. Meaning that grant awards will be made beginning in January for applications received in September and so on.

All applications must be in-hand via First Class United States Postal Service by Monday, December 9, 2019. No exceptions.
