Grant ranging from $10,000 to $13,500 to a Rush County, Indiana nonprofit organization for an innovative and collaborative program or project that addresses the needs of the local community. The Foundation favors grant requests which meet the following criteria:
- Impact a substantial number of people in our community
- Propose practical solutions to current problems or address a current community interest
- Are preventative rather than remedial in nature
- Examine and address underlying causes of local needs
- Encourage cooperation and elimination of duplicate services
- Stimulate volunteer involvement
The Foundation also invites applications to help fund new organizations who seek to meet demonstrated need or to benefit the community through creative and innovative projects and programs.

Funding is intended for one grant for $13,500 in order to have the greatest impact on the community. Applications for less than $10,000 will not be considered unless the amount available to grant is under $10,000, at which time a grant of less than half the available amount will not be considered.
Multi-year requests are not considered.
Organizations must be located in or provide service to residents within Rush County, Indiana. Generally, grants will be awarded to tax-exempt organizations classified as 501(c)(3) charities. It will, however, consider any proposal which is charitable in nature and could have a major impact on the community.
As a general rule, it does not make grants from unrestricted funds for the following:
- Ongoing operating expenses or annual fundraising drives
- Existing obligations, debt reduction or building campaigns
- Travel expenses
- Existing obligations
- Debt reduction
- Building campaigns
- Services which are primarily supported by tax dollars or are the responsibility of a public agency
- Advocacy or political purposes
- Religious or sectarian purposes
- Loans or endowments
- Multi-year grants or repeat funding
The Rush County Community Foundation does not discriminate in matters of age, race, religion, sex or native origin and expects that grant applicant observe like standards.
Grant seekers for unrestricted funds must email a Letter of Intent 15 days before the deadline and before submitting a grant application. A staff member from the RCCF will notify you if your request is accepted or declined. If accepted, your next step is to complete the full grant application, due January 30, 2018 by 4:00 PM.
Once the application and required documentation and copies have been submitted, a RCCF staff member will contact you to set up a time for your presentation to the Grants Committee. Your 15-minute presentation provides an opportunity to showcase your program and request. The Grants Committee may ask questions to better understand the impact of your application.
After the Grants Committee reviews all applications and interviews, a recommendation is made to the RCCF Board of Directors. The Board of Directors has a final vote to determine the applicants funded. After the monthly Board of Directors meeting, a member of the RCCF staff will notify all applicants of the decision.
The Foundation staff is available to discuss projects and programs and may assist applicants throughout the process.
