Description:

Request a Grant Writer

Grants to Indiana nonprofit arts organizations and public entities in eligible counties to provide programming and activities for underserved communities. Applicants that have not received funding in the last three years must submit an LOI prior to applying. Funding is intended to support the general operation and administrative costs of arts and cultural organizations that are located in and serve the Region 3 counties of Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Miami, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells and Whitley.

Eligible expenses include:

  • Salaries
  • Administrative fees
  • Artists' fees
  • Staff development and training
  • Space and equipment rental
  • Promotional costs
  • Personnel and production costs
  • Supplies needed to support the programming activities; and fee subsidies to presenting organizations that wish to purchase the grantee's services

Term of Contract:

The grant period is July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2021.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

AOS Level I (AOSI) is geared toward arts and cultural organizations with a cash income and expense budget of less than $250,000.

Eligible applicants are organizations whose primary purpose is arts producing, promoting, presenting service, or teaching organization. Applicants must be a private, nonprofit tax-exempt agency with either 501(c)(3) status from the IRS OR be an Indiana public entity (part of city or county).

Pre-proposal Conference:

Each year, Arts United staff facilitates Grant Information Sessions to provide applicants with insight to each of the grants administered by Arts United. Each session will highlight general eligibility requirements, provide a comprehensive overview to each grant program, detail funding priorities, and answer any questions you may have about a particular grant opportunity. The 2020 Grant Information Sessions will occur on the following dates:

Pre-Application Information:

LOIs are required by applicants who have not received AOS funding in FY18, FY19, or FY20. LOIs must be completed in the online system by January 15, 2020, 4:30 PM Eastern Time.

Applications are due by by March 5, 2020, 4:30 PM ET.

Draft reviews are available to first time applicants, and organizations that are not currently receiving funds from the IAC for general feedback and suggestions around application completeness and clarity. The deadline to request a draft review is February 21, 2020.

- Letter of Intent to Apply due: January 15, 2020, 4:30 PM ET
- Eligibility Notifications sent to LOI applicants: Week of January 27, 2020
- Deadline to request draft review: February 21, 2020

- Panel Review: April 30, 2020
- Award Notification: Early July 2020
- First Payment (75%): September - October 2020
- Final grant report due: July 13, 2021
- Second payment (25%): July - August 2021
