Grant Description
Grants of up to $10,000 to Indiana local government agencies, chambers of commerce, destination marketing organizations, and private businesses for public art projects that benefit residents and promote tourism. Funding is intended for projects in high-visibility areas and locations, allowing for easy photography opportunities. Possible art locations include but are not limited to exterior walls, water towers, alleyways, bridges, barns, and more.

The goals of the Public Art Activation Grant are to:

  1. Create Instagrammable experiences in high-visibility areas of Indiana.
  2. Generate Indiana-specific public artwork
  3. Add to the beauty of Indiana’s rural, urban, and suburban landscapes.

Applicants are asked to provide a location, local or regional artist, and estimated costs including supplies and artist fees. Projects are encouraged to be locally themed, within provided guidelines. IDDC will provide final approval on all designs prior to execution/funding.

IDDC intends to include a diverse group of locations and projects, including urban, suburban, and rural settings, large and small communities, and locations in different regions of the state.

Eligible Expenses: The majority of expenses should go to the actual creation of the artwork.

  • Contract/Commission fees
  • Installation costs (lift, surface prep, etc.)
  • Supply costs

Any and all applicants will be considered, including but not limited to communities, destination marketing organizations, chambers of commerce, and private businesses.

Ineligible
Ineligible Expenses:
- Administration expenses associated with project development and implementation
- Marketing
- Food or Alcohol
- Travel, including but not limited to, mileage reimbursement, lodging, per diem
- General office supplies and equipment
- Expenses not directly related to the project

Pre-Application Information
IDDC Public Art Activation Grant Timeline:
- January 4, 2023: Call For Applications
- March 17, 2023: Application Deadline (4 p.m. ET)
- March 31, 2023: Announcement of Award Recipients
- October 31, 2023: Deadline for Project Completion

Grantees will receive 75% of funding after IDDC approval of artwork and 25% upon project completion.
